Speak Up – Whistleblowing Reporting Platform
At BFI, we are committed to conducting our business with integrity, transparency and accountability. We believe that speaking up about concerns is essential to maintaining an ethical and responsible business environment.
We encourage all our stakeholders, including employees, former employees, suppliers, contractors, customers, business partners and other third parties, to raise concerns about suspected wrongdoing, misconduct or behaviour that may be inconsistent with applicable laws, regulations or our internal policies.
Our digital reporting platform provides a dedicated channel for raising concerns relating to BFI in a safe and confidential manner.
What can you report?
You can use this platform to report concerns about suspected wrongdoing or misconduct, including:
- Fraud, bribery, corruption or other unlawful activities;
- Breaches of applicable laws, regulations or internal policies;
- Conflicts of interest or other unethical business conduct;
- Risks to health, safety or the environment;
- Financial or accounting irregularities;
- Attempts to conceal any of the above.
You do not need to have proof of wrongdoing to raise a concern. However, you should have reasonable grounds to believe that the information you are reporting is accurate.
Our commitments
BFI is committed to fostering an environment in which individuals feel confident to speak up.
We are committed to:
- Confidentiality: Handling reports and the identities of individuals involved confidentially, in accordance with applicable laws and internal procedures.
- Protection against retaliation: Not tolerating retaliation against individuals who raise genuine concerns or make protected disclosures.
- Fair and impartial handling: Ensuring that concerns are appropriately assessed and, where necessary, investigated fairly and impartially.
- Accountability: Taking appropriate action where wrongdoing or misconduct is identified.
Legal framework
BFI’s approach to whistleblowing is consistent with the applicable UK legal framework, principally set out in Part IVA of the Employment Rights Act 1996, as amended, including by the Public Interest Disclosure Act 1998 (PIDA).
The statutory protections available to whistleblowers depend on the nature of the disclosure and the eligibility requirements established by applicable legislation.
